INDIANA DROPS MATCH TO US PROFESSIONAL LEAGUE
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana's 6-0 volleyball team remained undefeated after losing an exhibition match to the United States Professional Volleyball League 12-15, 5-15, 5-15 Tuesday night at University Gym.
Former Hoosier and current USPV team member Anne Eastman led all players with 13 kills while Ryann Connors led IU with eight kills and six digs.
Indiana jumped out to an 8-1 lead in game one, but that was as big of a lead as the Hoosiers would get against the powerful USPV "Dream Team" who tied the game at 10-all before going on to win 15-12.
"It was exciting for us to play a professional team tonight," said Coach Katie Weismiller. "We played a great serving team and did not pass the ball well which in turn took us out of our offense. We learned that we need to step it up and work harder on our passing game.
"I think that tonight's match was a great opportunity for us to play against some great competition," said Ryann Connors. "It exposed our weaknesses and showed us what we need to work on before we get into the Big Ten Conference season."
The Hoosiers will be back in action this weekend, hosting the HoosierTimes.com
Invitational Friday and Saturday, Sept. 17-18. The Hoosiers will play Marshall
Friday at 7:30 p.m., before facing Cleveland State at noon and Boston College
at 7:30 p.m., on Saturday.
