BUSY WEEKEND WILL START HOOSIERS SEASON
On Tap...The Hoosiers will split their squad this weekend as they will take part in two tournaments. Beginning on Friday, the Hoosiers will travel to either Notre Dame or Ball State to take part in their Invitationals. Also, junior Ian Arons is currently taking place in the ITA National Clay Court Championshipsin Baltimore, Maryland. His qualifying match is at 11:00 am on Wednesday. If he qualifies the main draw will begin on Thursday.
Scouting Report...The Hoosiers return all ten players from a 14-10 a year ago. Leading the Hoosiers this year will be senior tri-captains Gabriel Montilla, Ricardo Jordan and George McGill. Junior's Ian Aron, Paul Jacobson and Milan Rakvica all made huge jumps last year and will be looked on to make another huge jump this year. Sophomore Rahman Smiley rounds up last year's starting lineup.
Recapping Last Year...The Hoosiers made a huge jump as a team last year, finsishing with a 14-10 overall record, while going 6-5 in the Big Ten and making it to the NCAA Tournament. Ian Arons became the Hoosiers No. 1 player in the beginning of the season and went on to get All-Big Ten honors. George McGill went a perfect 10-0 in Big Ten singles play. Milan Rakvica, went on to win 30 matches in his year on the team.
Head Coach Ken Hydinger...is entering his 16th season as the Head Coach at Indiana University. He has accumulated a 233-158-1 overall record, while earning a 104-80 Big Ten record. He has been coaching at the collegiate level for 18 years, coaching at Mississippi State and Southwest Missouri Stat, before coming to Indiana. During his 18 years of coaching, he has collected 299 victories, 203 losses and one tie.
