HOOSIERS LEAD FOSSUM INVITATIONAL AFTER FIRST ROUND
East Lansing, MI - The Indiana University women's golf team is in first place after the first round of the Mary Fossum Invitational in East Lansing, Michigan. The Hoosiers lead the field of eighteen after firing a first day score of 298, eight stokes better than second place Kent.
Indiana senior Sami Montgomery is in a tie for the lead after the first day with Jan Dowling of Kent University. Montgomery shot an even par score of 72 on Saturday two shots better than teammate Natalie Tucker. Tucker carded rounds of 40 and 34 (first day tournament low) for a two-over par day of 74, good enough for a third place tie heading into Sunday's competition.
Fellow Hoosiers Theresa McDermott and Inga Snyder share a tie for sixth with a host of others after shooting rounds of 76. Sophomore Tiffany Fisher also sits in the top-twenty with a tie for eighteenth after completing rounds of 40 and 38 for a total of 78.
I.U. will look to maintain its first place postion as the teams conclude play on Sunday with the final 36 holes.
