INDIANA CAPTURES CONVINCING VICTORY AT FOSSUMEast Lansing, MI - The I.U. women's golf team showed their potential on Sunday as they captured a convincing victory at the Mary Fossum Invitational. The Hoosiers were able to maintain their first place position on the second day shooting rounds of 304 and 299 for a tournament total of 901 (298-304-299). I.U. blew away the rest of the field, beating second place Kent by a twenty-two shot margin.
The Hoosiers had an excellent team effort with three top-5 finishes. Junior Natalie Tucker took second place honors as she fired Sunday rounds of 77 and 72. Combined with her first day total of 74, Tucker finished with a 223 only one shot behind medalist winner Julee Sovesky of Ohio University.
Senior Sami Montgomery (72-76-77) and Sophomore Tiffany Fisher (78-73-74) tied each other for third place shooting tournament totals of 225. Senior Theresa McDermott (T12) and Sophomore Inga Snyder (T22) also chipped in with top-25 finishes, shooting 232 (76-78-78) and 235(76-83-76) respectively.
The Hoosiers will look to continue their winning way as they next compete in the Legends Shoot-Out October 11th and 12th in Franklin, IN.
