Meet Data
Indiana will kick off the new year with a coed-dual meet against Ohio State.
The meet will take place Saturday January 15 at 1 pm at the Counsilman/Billingsley
Aquatics Center.
The Competitors
Ohio State is 4-0 on the season and has just returned from a winter training
trip to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

following the event. They can be viewed and printed out by choosing men's
swimming and diving from the main menu. Weekly updates and season best lists

The Coaches
Kris Kirchner is in his 10th season as the Indiana head men's swim coach.
Jeff Huber is in his 11th season as the Indiana diving coach Huber

National Rankings
The IU men's swimming and diving team is currently ranked 24th by the College
Swimming Coaches Association of America Division I men's poll . The number
one ranked team is Texas. Other Big Ten school rankings are as follows:
Minnesota- ninth, Michigan- tenth, Penn State-16th and Purdue-23rd.
The Schedule
The following is the order of events: 400 medley relay, 1-meter and 3-meter
diving begins, 1000 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 50 freestyle, 200 individual
medley, 200 butterfly, 100 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 500 freestyle, 200
breaststroke, 400 freestyle relay.
Breaststroke
The breaststroke events will be led by Henrik Wahlberg and David Schulze.
Wahlberg currently holds the team's top time in the 100 breaststroke (55.81)
while Schulze is tops in the 200 breaststroke (2:02.08).
Backstroke
Ken Ackermann and Will Bernhardt will be leading the backstroke events for
IU. Ackermann is the fastest Hoosier in both the 100 (49.25) and 200 backstroke
(1:47.08) thus far this season.
Butterfly
Ones to watch in the butterfly events are Kevin Euans and Craig Hertz. Euans
owns the team's top time in the 100 butterfly (50.49) and Hertz owns the
same in the 200 butterfly (1:51.45).
Sprints
Don Gold and Brian Stryker will be in close competition the sprint freestyle
events. Gold has the top time in the 50 freestyle (21.08), the 100 freestyle
(45.49) and the 200 freestyle (1:40.77). Stryker is second in both the 50
freestyle (21.18) and the 100 freestyle (46.50).
Distance
Joe Trent is the fastest Hoosier in both the 1000 (9:26.33) and 1650 freestyle
(15:47.48) thus far this season.
Diving
In last weekend's Indiana Winter Invitational, Ryan Kosanic won the college
one-meter and the open one-meter events. Eric Robson took the college three-meter
and college platform events.
