HEISMAN ATTENTION FOR RANDLE EL

Bloomington, Ind. -- As one of the obvious frontrunners for the 2000 Heisman Trophy, national media attention has intensified for junior quarterback Antwaan Randle El.
Just this past week, the Sporting News selected Randle El as one of the 10 leading candidates for college football's most prestigious award. The list included the following players: David Allen, RB/KR, Kansas State; Drew Brees, QB, Purdue; Quincy Carter, QB, Georgia; Eric Crouch, QB, Nebraska; Josh Heupel, QB, Oklahoma; Jamal Lewis, RB, Tennessee (declared for NFL draft); Freddie Milons, WR, Alabama; Santana Moss, WR, Miami (Fla.) and Michael Vick, QB, Virginia Tech.
Randle El finished the 1999 season having completed 150 of 279 passes for 2,227 yards and 17 touchdowns and he rushed 224 times for 788 yards and 13 touchdowns. He accounted for 30 touchdowns, the most in school history.
