Women Mentioned in Demetra National Poll
10/5/2000 12:00:00 AM | General
The Demetra Poll at http://www.wfu.edu/~demecj02/ recognized Indiana Women's Cross Country, placing them in the 31st slot as of October 3, 2000. The Demetra poll utilizes a mathematical algorithm designed specifically to rank the top NCAA Division I cross country teams. The algorithm predicts the outcome of a 31-team national meet, ignoring issues associated with automatic qualifiers, at-large berths, and "points."
The computer values a team performance based on the following two factors: (a) head-to-head margin of victory (or defeat); and (b) strength of competition. Added weight is given to more recent meets.
