• Indiana completed its season averaging 30.6 points per contest and 439.5 yards per game, including 266.7 yards per game rushing. The 30.6 points per game scoring average was the second highest point total in school history.
• The Indiana offense only allowed nine sacks in 2000 and its entire starting offensive line is scheduled to return in 2001.
• Indiana's offense recorded a staggering 57 plays from the line of scrimmage of 20-or-more yards.
• With one of the nation's most diversified offenses, Indiana had on its roster in 2000 a career 5,000-yard passer (Antwaan Randle El, 5,805 passing yards), 2,500-yard rusher (Randle El, 2,931 rushing yards), a 1,500-yard rusher (Levron Williams, 1,694 rushing yards), a 1,000-yard rusher (De'Wayne Hogan, 1,115 rushing yards), and two 1,000-yard receivers (Jerry Dorsey, 1,116 receiving yards and Versie Gaddis, 1,187 receiving yards).
• Every Indiana player who tallied more than one carry in 2000 averaged at least 5.0 yards per rush. The list includes quarterback Antwaan Randle El (5.8 ypc), running back Levron Williams (7.1), running back Brian Lewis (5.6), fullback De'Wayne Hogan (5.7), fullback Jeremi Johnson (5.7 ypc), running back Rashon Myles (5.4), and quarterback Tommy Jones (5.0).
• Indiana's defense did not allow an opponent to score a single point on an opening drive in any game this past season.
• Indiana lost four games (N.C. State, Kentucky, Penn State, Illinois) that were decided in the final minute of play. Two of Indiana's wins (Minnesota and Cincinnati) came against bowl eligible opponents.
• For the second consecutive season, Indiana was recognized by the AFCA for achieving a graduation rate of greater than 70 percent. In last year's class, 30 of 32 seniors graduated while the two others are still in school.
• Senior safety Johnny Anderson has been selected to play in the Rivals.Com Hula Bowl Maui All-Star Football Classic which will be played in Maui, Hawaii, on Saturday, January 20, 2001. The game will be broadcast on ESPN. In 2000, Anderson led Indiana in tackles with 92, including 2 for loss. He also recovered two fumbles, forced two fumbles, blocked a kick, and recorded three passes broken up.
• Tight end/defensive tackle Kris Dielman became one of only a handful of players in I-A football to see action on both sides of the football. As a tight end, the sophomore caught 7 passes for 46 yards and two touchdowns.
• Senior wide receiver Jerry Dorsey finished his career with 58 catches for 1,116 yards and 9 touchdowns.
• Senior captain Versie Gaddis completed his career with 75 catches for 1,187 yards and 6 touchdowns.
• Sophomore safety Joe Gonzalez was named to the 2000 Verizon All-District V Academic Football Team. He was one of only eight Big Ten players named to the All-District team. Gonzalez recorded 27 tackles, including one for loss, and four pass deflections in 2000.
• Junior wide receiver/kickoff returner Derin Graham set the school record for kickoff return yards in a season (897 yards) and moved into first place on IU's career kickoff return yardage list with 2,088 yards. He has returned two kickoffs for touchdowns during his career and tallied an 86-yard return vs. Kentucky in 2000.
• Senior fullback De'Wayne Hogan played extremely well in 2000 as he helped the IU offense average 30.6 points per contest and 439.5 yards per game, including 266.7 yards per game rushing. Hogan finished the 2000 campaign with 313 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns on only 55 carries. For his career, Hogan rushed 268 times for 1,115 yards and 10 touchdowns.
• Senior captain Paul Mandina, a defensive tackle, finished the 2000 campaign with 40 tackles, including three for loss, four pass deflections, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries.
• Senior kicker Andy Payne finished his career ranked second on the school's extra point list with 111 and fourth on its scoring list with 238 points. He connected on 43-of-58 career field goals, including 29-of-33 from inside 40 yards. His 53-yard field goal in a win over Minnesota on 10/21/00 was a career long.
• A Heisman Trophy candidate and widely regarded as the nation's most exciting and explosive player, junior quarterback Antwaan Randle El finished the 2000 campaign with 3,053 total yards, including 1,270 yards and 13 touchdowns rushing and 1,783 yards and 10 touchdowns passing.
With one touchdown pass at Purdue, Randle El became only the second player in Division I-A history to score 200 points and pass for 200 points in a career. He is responsible for 202 points through the air (including two 2-point conversions) and 222 scoring in 33 career games. Michigan's Rick Leach (1975-78) is the only other I-A player to achieve this mark (scored 204, passed for 270).
Randle El became the only quarterback in the history of the Big Ten conference to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a single season as he rushed 218 times for 1270 yards and 13 touchdowns. He rushed for 1,059
yards during Big Ten play. With 1,783 yards and 10 touchdowns passing, he came within 217 yards of becoming the first player in I-A history to pass for 2,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in a single season.
Randle El finished the 2000 campaign ranked ninth on the Division I-A single season list for rushing yards by a quarterback with 1,270. He will also finish the season as the nation's leader in rushing yards by a quarterback with an average of 115.5 yards per contest.
Randle El is currently ranked seventh on the career rushing list for I-A quarterbacks with 2,931 yards (1st, Dee Dowis, Air Force 3,612 yards). He is also in fifth place on the Big Ten's career total offense list with 8,736 yards (1st, Drew Brees, Purdue, 12,442).
Versus Minnesota, Randle El became only the sixth player in I-A history to pass for 200 yards and rush for 200 yards in the same game.
• Junior captain Kemp Rasmussen, a defensive end, finished the 2000 season with 30 tackles, including 9 for loss and 3 sacks. He also was credited with 7 passes broken up.
• Junior linebacker Justin Smith finished the 2000 season second on the team in tackles (74), including a team leading 14 tackles for loss and 6 sacks. He also tallied four pass deflections and two forced fumbles.
• Junior cornerback Sharrod Wallace finished third on the team in tackles with 49 and led the club in interceptions (2) and pass deflections (9). He also recovered a fumble.
• Junior running back Levron Williams carried 116 times for 821 yards (7.1 ypc) and 10 touchdowns and also caught 20 passes for 116 yards.
