INDIANA HOSTS HOOSIER HILLS OPEN
Meet Data
Indiana will host the Hoosier Hills Open this Saturday at 11 a.m. at Harry
Gladstein Fieldhouse. The Hoosiers will welcome 27 other track & field
programs in this team-scored event.
Meet Results

following the event. They can be viewed and printed out by choosing either
men's, or women's track and field from the main menu. Weekly updates and
season best lists can be obtained at www.athletics.indiana.edu all season
long.
The Coaches
Marshall Goss is in his second season as the Indiana head men's track and
field coach and program coordinator and is in his 17th season with the Hoosiers.
Randy Heisler is in his second season as the women's track and field coach
and is in his 11th season with the Hoosiers.
Coaches' Outlook
Indiana head men's track and field coach Marshall Goss:
"We will move some people around this weekend to get some people
into some fast races and give some others a little bit of a rest. We had
a good meet last week and the team seems to be peaking at the right time."
Last Weekend
The women stayed unbeaten on the season as they defeated Purdue 85.5-76.5.
The men fell to the Boilermakers 82.5-76.5.
Among the Nation's Best
Jennifer Brown currently ranks fifth in the country in the shot put and
11th in the weight throw. Lorraine Dunlop currently ranks ninth in the country
in the 60 meters.
Big Ten's Best
Indiana ranks in the top five on the current Big 10 performance list in
13 different events including Lorraine Dunlop (60 meters-2nd, 200 meters-2nd),
Danielle Carruthers (60 meters-5th, 200 meters-2nd 60 meter hurdles-5th),
Tia Trent (400 meters-4th, 600 meters-3rd), Distance Medley Relay (2nd),
Tandra Foster (long jump-4th), Maria Fleischmann (triple jump-3rd), Jennifer
Brown (shot put-1st, weight throw-2nd), Krista Keir (shot put-4th).
The men rank in the top five in five events including Russell Brooks (60
meters-4th), Ryan Huber (600 meters-4th), Distance Medley Relay (3rd), John
Miles (high jump-4th), Jon Lange (high jump-5th), Mike Minton (shot put-5th).
Hoosiers Host Clinic
Indiana University and the Big Ten will host a youth clinic in conjunction
with the men's conference championship. The clinic will take place on the
Friday night (February 25) preceding the two-day championship. The purpose
of the clinic is to instruct youth in participation at an early age. Instructors
are from the track and field community of Bloomington and surrounding areas.
There will also be a session for parents. The clinic will begin at 6 p.m.
and is free. Each participant (kindergarten-8th grade only) will receive
a free T-shirt and pass to one of the championship sessions if accompanied
by an adult. For information, or to register contact the Indiana track and

Big Ten's Closing In
Indiana University will host the 2000 Big Ten Men's Track & Field Championships
February 26-27. Tickets will be available at the door for $5 per day.
60 Meters
Russell Brooks (6.78) has the top mark among the men while Lorraine Dunlop's
school record time, which she set last weekend, of 7.37 is the team's best
time.
200 Meters
Russell Brooks (21.77) owns the team's top time on the men's side while
Danielle Carruthers' top time of 23.99 from last weekend is a new Indiana
school record.
400 Meters
Ryan Huber (49.37) posted a team best time at the Indiana Invite. Sean Cleary
(49.58) is just behind that mark. Tia Trent owns the top time (55.50) among
the women.
600 Meters
Ryan Huber set a school record with a time of 1:19.44 against Notre Dame.
Tia Trent posts the team's top time (1:33.69) on the women's side.
800 Meters
Kim Craig posted a team best time of 2:14.61 at the Indiana Invite. Mikko
Simos posted a team best time of 4:12.38 last weekend.
Mile
Amanda Bell put on an impressive performance posting a team best time of
4:51.87 in the mile last weekend. Chris Ekman did the same on the men's
side with a time of 4:12.38.
3,000 Meters
Amanda Bell (9:52.75) owns the top time in the 3,000 meters for the women
while Tom Brooks (8:28.90) holds the same honor for the men after setting
season best time last weekend.
60 Meter High Hurdles
LaToya Turner owns the team's top time (8.51) on the women's side while
Nick Sears (8.31) posted the men's top time of the year against Ohio State.
Long Jump
Dino Efthimiou (22' 7.75") holds the men's top mark in the long jump
while Tandra Foster (19' 3.25") has the best mark on the women's side.
Both marks were set against Notre Dame.
High Jump
Cori McLeod set a team season best last weekend as he jumped 5' 5"
against Purdue while John Miles jump of 6' 11.75" is the top mark on
the men's side.
Shot Put
Jennifer Brown automatically qualified for the NCAA championships last weekend
with a season best throw of 53' 6.5" last weekend. Mike Minton owns
the top mark for the men with a distance of 57' 2".
Pole Vault
Anglea McGregor tied the school record with a vault of 11' 7.75" last
weekend and has process provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships.
Dino Efthimiou will look to improve on his career-best mark of 16' 7.25"
which he set the opening weekend of the season.
Triple Jump
Hassan Reddick leads the way for the men with a mark of 49' 45" while
Maria Fleischmann's posted a team season best jump of 40' at the Indiana
Invite.
Weight Throw
Jennifer Brown posted a school record (62' 3") in the weight throw
for the fourth time this season at the Indiana Invite. She has won all six
weight throw events that she has competed in this season and has provisionally
qualified for the NCAA championships. Ben Jackson owns the men's top throw
of the season with a mark of 55' 3.75" which he set last weekend.
