Murfreesboro, TN-- IU fell to Middle Tennessee State in the first of a two-game series, 9-8.

in the first. off a Bryan Peck two-run home run. Middle Tennessee
scored again in the second to go up 3-0. The Hoosiers came back

answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Indiana didn't
score again until the seventh inning, when Berich's ground-out

IU was headed for a comeback. Clause hit a solo homer to
push IU within two. Eric Blakeley singled, then advanced on a
fielder's choice and finally scored off a St. Clair single up
the middle. The rally ended when Williams was caught looking
at the third strike.
