HOOSIERS HOST BUTLER
Game Data
Indiana will host a double-header against the Butler Bulldogs
on Tuesday, March 21, at 2:00 p.m. at the IU Softball Complex.
This is the first home game for the Hoosiers in the 2000 season.
Butler
Butler is under the direction of first year head coach Dirk Welch.
Welch came to Butler after serving as an assistant coach at
Bradley University for three seasons. Butler is currently 5-10.
Last season, the Bulldogs posted a 13-43 overall record and
went 6-6 in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference.
The Series
The Hoosiers lead the series 5-1-1 against the Bulldogs. In
their last meeting, Indiana defeated Butler 7-2 and 7-2 in a
double-header at Butler on March 24, 1999.
Spring Break Results
The Hoosiers posted a 4-7 record during their spring break road
trip. Indiana defeated Miami-Ohio, Troy State, Georgia Tech,
and Evansville during the 11 game road series.
Clearing The Bases
Sophomore Brooke Monroe had a career-high five RBI in the win
against St. Peters College on Saturday. Monroe had two hits,
including a 3 RBI double with two outs and the bases loaded In
the sixth inning, Monroe singled to center field to bring in
teammates Staci Meek and Lisa Mattke.
State Showdown
Indiana is currently 1-0 versus Indiana schools. The Hoosiers
defeated Evansville 6-3 on Friday, March 17 at Evansville, Indiana.

The Coaches
Diane Stephenson begins her 13th season as head coach for the
Hoosiers. She has produced winning records in seven of her 12
seasons. Stephenson has accumulated a 364-39-3 (.533) career
record, including a 150-149 (.502) record in Big Ten play. Her
team made the NCAA Mideast Regional in 1994 and finished with
a record of 49-16.
Assisting Stephenson will be Donna Bonebrake, now in her 5th season, and newcomer Jen McIntyre. McIntyre comes to Indiana from Penn State where she played third base for the Nittany Lions.
