INDIANA HIRES ASSISTANT COACH
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University volleyball head coach Katie Weismiller announced today the hiring of Sally Schulte as the program's new assistant coach. Schulte takes over the position from Dave Boos who was elevated to recruiting assistant coach.
Schulte, a native of Fort Wright, Ky., will be responsible for a number of administrative functions at IU, including team travel, equipment and recruiting.
Schulte comes to Indiana after having spent the past three years as the assistant coach at the University of Dayton. There, in addition to her on court coaching duties, she was responsible for recruiting, travel arrangements, equipment ordering and budget along with the development and organization of Dayton's summer camps.
As an outside hitter at Xavier University from 1993-96, Schulte was a four year starter who earned 1995 and 1996 First Team All-Atlantic 10 Conference honors. She ended her collegiate volleyball career as Xavier's all-time kill (1,779) and kill attempt (4,363) leader. She also ranks second on the career digs (1,338) list and holds the school record for kills in a match (35).
Schulte received a B.A. in health and physical secondary education from Xavier University in May 1997, and a master's degree in education from Dayton in 1999.
"Sally comes in with coaching experience at the Division
one level," said Weismiller. "She also has a lot of
experience in recruiting the Midwest. Sally will give us coaching
expertise at the outside hitter position and that is something
we haven't had for awhile."
