HOOSIERS COMPLETE PERFECT WEEKEND
Murray, Ky--IU's men's baseball team dominated Murray State University this weekend, winning all three games in the road series. Today's 6-4 win over the Thoroughbreds was the Hoosiers' seventh straight and tenth overall.
IU got things started in the third when Eric Blakeley singled, then advanced on a wild pitch. Rich Berich singled to left to score Blakeley. Dan Haegele stole home on a Jason Williams' pop up to put IU up 2-0. In the fifth, Berich homered to left. In the seventh, Blake St. Clair singled, then scored off an error. In the ninth, St. Clair again scored off an error to put the Hoosiers up 6-3. In the bottom of the ninth the 'Breds looked to make a comeback, but were stopped short, as the Hoosiers prevailed 6-4.
Junior David Ferris gave up three runs in his 6.2 inning effort. Ferris collected the win, which moves him to 3-0 for the season. Tom Willerer finished out the game for IU, earning his first save of the year, allowing only one run.
Indiana is now 10-3 for the season. The Hoosiers continue their road trip this week. On Tuesday, IU will face off against Xavier at 3 p.m.
