Men's Tennis Defeats Iowa 6-1
Iowa City, Iowa. - The men's tennis picked up a much needed Big Ten victory with a victory over Iowa 6-1 today in Iowa City, Iowa.
The Hoosiers (10-4, 2-2) opened the day by sweeping the three doubles matches. At No. 1, Ian Arons and Gabriel Montilla defeated Tyler Cleveland and Stuart Waters 9-8. Milan Rakvica and George McGill were victorious over J.R. Chidley and Eric Kozlowski 8-3 at No. 2. At No. 3, Paul Jacobson and Rahman Smiley defeated Pete Rose and Jake Wilson 8-6.
In singles, Indiana won five of the six matches. Arons, playing at the No. 2 position, defeated Waters 7-5,6-2. At No. 3, Gabriel Montilla won his 70th-career match with a victory over Wilson 6-3,6-4. At No. 4, McGill was victorious over Chidley 6-3,6-3. Jacobson, playing at the No. 4 position, picked up a win over Hunter Skogman 7-5,6-4. At No. 6, Smiley defeated Rose 7-5,6-4.
The Hoosiers only loss of the day came at the top position, as 86th-ranked Milan Rakvica lost to Tyler Cleveland 6-2,6-1.
The Hoosiers will return to the court in Madison, Wisconsin
tomorrow as they face Wisconsin at noon.
