Hoosiers Coast To Victory Over Michigan State
Ann Arbor, Mich. - The women's tennis team advanced to the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Championships with a 4-0 win against injury plagued Michigan State. The sixth-seeded Hoosiers needed to win only two matches on the day for the victory. The win improves the Hoosiers record to 14-10, while the loss drops Michigan State's record to 2-15.
The 44th-ranked Hoosiers took an early 1-0 advantage by winning the winning the doubles point. After winning the first doubles match by forfeit, Jessica Levin and Becky Wallihan easily defeated KathrynFigenshau and Joi McQueen 8-0.
The Hoosiers took a 3-0 lead into singles after winning two spots by forfeit. Ann Poosuthasee, playing at the No. 4 position, finished off the Spartans with a victory over Figenshau 6-0,6-1.
With the win the Hoosiers will take on third-seeded Northwestern tomorrow at 2 p.m. (E.D.T).
