HOOSIERS COMPETE IN RELAYS

Pole Vaulters in 2nd, 3rd going into championship
Dino Efthimiou and Brian Garriotte are in second and third, respectively, heading into the championship on Saturday. Efthimiou tied Paul Schmitt of Kutztown at 16-02.25 for the highest mark of the day. Garriotte posted a 15-09.00. In the high jump, Jon Lange placed seventh, jumping 6-07.50. Mike Minton and Ben Jackson finished third and fourth respectively in the discus. Minton threw 52.02170-08, and Jackson threw 52.02170-08 for fourth.
On the women's side, Maria Fleischmann finished ninth in the triple jump. Heather Colyer and Jennifer Brown placed sixth and eighth, respectively, in the women's discus. Colyer threw 50.14165-06, and Brown marked 47.28155-01 in the championship.

West Lafayette, Ind.--Indiana completed the first day of competition at the Boilermaker Open. The Hoosiers, competing with a split squad, participated in five events today.
For the women, Whitney Bevins placed 15th in the 3000 meter run with a time of 11:05.32. Kelley McKinney placed ninth in the hammer throw with a throw of 42.22 meters.
On the men's side, Wasyl Fedoriw and Brian Bowman competed in the shot put. Fedoriw finished fourth (16.07 meters), while Bowman placed 16th (11.92m). In the hammer throw, Fedoriw placed 15th with a 44.90 meter throw. Nate Jones and Chad Andrews placed third and fifth respectively in the 10,000m run. Jones ran a time of 31:39.47, and Andrews finished in 32:14.76.
