IU ANNOUNCES NEW RADIO CARRIER IN INDIANAPOLIS
Bloomington, Ind. -- Hoosier football and basketball fans in the Indianapolis area will have new radio stations to tune to for IU sports this fall. Indiana University has announced new agreements with WMYS-AM 1430 and WFBQ-FM (Q-95).
WMYS will air all IU football games and the weekly Cam Cameron call-in show. WFBQ will broadcast the IU basketball games and Bob Knight's weekly show. The daily IU report with play-by-play announcer Don Fischer will continue to be broadcast on Q-95's sister station WNDE-AM 1260.
Fischer will once again be joined in the football announce booth by color commentator Buck Suhr and host Joe Smith.
"We are very excited about this new relationship, and greatly value the exposure and coverage these two stations bring to our athletics program," said Clarence Doninger, IU Director of Athletics.
"WMYS has been growing steadily in audience since the launch of the station, and the addition of IU football to our program schedule will further enhance that growth," said Tim Medland, President and General Manager of WMYS.
The new broadcast plan will take effect this fall when IU opens against North Carolina State in Bloomington Sept. 9. In addition to the radio stations in Indianapolis, the IU Sports Network includes 47 other radio stations throughout Indiana.
"IU basketball is an institution in the state of Indiana, and so is Q-95. We believe the two are a great fit," said Chris Wheat, Regional Vice President and General Manager of WNDE/WFBQ.
Learfield Communications, Inc. owns the Indiana University broadcast rights, and manages the multi-media package on behalf of IU.
"We are thrilled to be working with these two radio station groups in the Indianapolis market, and are excited about the value this exposure provides IU and our sponsors," said Brent Hutton, General Manager of Learfield Sports-Indiana.
