July 24, 2000 Gaddis and Mandina to Attend Big Ten Kickoff Luncheon
Bloomington, Ind.-- Indiana senior co-captains Versie Gaddis and Paul Mandina, along with head coach Cam Cameron, will represent Indiana University at the 29th Annual Big Ten Conference Football Kickoff Luncheon on Thursday, July 27, 2000, at the Sheraton Chicago. The Big Ten Kickoff Luncheon is the nation's largest and oldest preseason celebration of college football. Each of the 11 Conference coaches and two players from each institution will be present at the 29th annual event, which features a video highlight presentation, one of the players as a guest speaker and comments from each coach. On Wednesday and Thursday, the players in attendance will participate in several extensive sessions of print, radio and television interviews.
A 5-foot-10, 188-pound, wide receiver, Gaddis started 11 games last fall and led Indiana in receptions with 35. He tallied 633 receiving yards, including 3 touchdowns. In the 1999 season opener vs. Ball State, he tallied 3 receptions for 117 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a Memorial Stadium-record 81-yard touchdown reception. He has earned a bachelor's degree in general studies with a minor in telecommunications.
Mandina, a 6-foot-4, 310-pound, defensive tackle was one of Indiana's most consistent defenders throughout the 1999 campaign. He finished the season with 40 tackles, including 4 for loss and 3.5 sacks. He also forced and recovered a fumble and broke up a pass.
Indiana opens its 2000 campaign on September 9 when it hosts North Carolina State.
