IU Women Finish Eighth at Mary Fossum Invitational
East Lansing, Mich.-- The IU women’s golf team opened the fall season at the Mary Fossum Invitational, an event which they won last year. The invitational was originally scheduled to be 54 holes (36 on Saturday and 18 on Sunday) but due to inclement weather, Saturday’s competition was cancelled. Minnesota won the event with a team score of 296. Indiana finished in eighth place with a team score of 309. Kim Benedict of Michigan and Jenny Bruun of Minnesota tied for first place with a 70. Leading the way for the Hoosiers was senior Natalie Tucker who scored a 72 (36-36). Competing in her first collegiate tournament, redshirt freshman Danah Ford tied for 19th place after firing a 76 (38-38). Tiffany Fisher tallied two rounds of 40 on Sunday, putting her in a tie for 53rd place. With a score of 81 (38-43), junior Karen Dennison tied for 57th place. Rounding out the scoring for the Hoosiers was Ambry Bishop who finished with an 85 (41-44). Next action for the Hoosiers will be Friday, September 29-Sunday, October 1, when they travel to Minneapolis, Minnesota for the Northern Invitational.
