Hoosiers Named to NFHCA Academic Squad

Bloomington, Ind.-The Indiana field hockey team boasts three individuals recently named to the 2000 NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. Junior Brooke Magers and freshmen Ginna Irwin and Lauren Micka all received the academic honor. Each student-athlete must have achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.30 and be a starter or key reserve to be selected to the squad. All three Hoosiers were starters on the inaugural field hockey team and were key in the development of the program thus far. Magers tallied two goals on eight attempts and posted one assist in the first season. Micka also scored a goal and assisted on a Magers' goal. Irwin gathered two assists on the year for the Hoosiers. All three return in 2001 to continue in the strife of creating a top-notch field hockey program at IU.
