Randle El to Participate in CNN/SI Chat

Bloomington, Ind. -- Indiana senior quarterback/wide receiver Antwaan Randle El, a frontrunner for the 2001 Heisman Trophy and widely regarded as college football's most exciting player, will participate in a chat session with fans on CNN/Sports Illustrated's web site (www.cnnsi.com) on Thursday, March 29, at 11:00 a.m. EST. Fans may log in to pose their questions to Antwaan in advance of the chat or during Antwaan's visit to the site on Thursday.
CNN/SI writes, "A frontrunner for the 2001 Heisman Trophy, Randle El is on pace to rush for more yards than any quarterback in NCAA Division I-A history. Needing only 681 more rushing yards to achieve this mark, his 1,270 rushing yards in 2000 paced all I-A quarterbacks. With only 69 more rushing yards and 195 additional passing yards, he would become the only player in college football history to pass for 6,000 yards and rush for 3,000 yards in a career. Randle El also guided the Hoosiers to the team's second-highest point total in school history, with an average of 30.6 points per game. He is one of only two players in college football history to score 200 career points and to account for 200 career points passing with the 300/300 plateau in reach. Randle El, who was on pace to reach the Big Ten's top 10 in both career rushing and passing yardage, is working overtime to get up to speed as a wideout, a position he'll also play in 2001. He took this winter off from playing for the Hoosier basketball team, and the former Chicago Cubs 14th-round pick also is bypassing playing centerfield for IU's baseball team -- all so he can refine his route-running."
