Indiana Women's Golf Team Holds Lead to Win First Spring Competition
Houston, Texas - The Hoosiers may not be invited back for a second trip to the Verizon "Mo" Morial Tournament after capturing a victory in their first trip to the Texas tournament. Indiana shot a final round of 314 for a two-day total of 917 and a two stroke win over host Texas A & M and Oklahoma.
Indiana's individual play was again impressive with three Hoosiers finishing in the top 20. Senior Natalie Tucker finished in a third-place tie with her three-round total of 224 (75, 72, 77). Senior Inga Snyder (71, 81, 78) and redshirt freshman Danah Ford (75, 75, 79) each shot a 230 for a share of 13th place. Snyder's round of 71 tied her career best and her three round total topped her previous career number of 271. Rounding out the team scoring for Indiana, junior Tiffany Fisher finished with a 234 which was good for a 21st place finish. Fisher shot 82, 72, 80 over the three rounds.
Redshirt freshman Cara Stuckey also competed for the Hoosiers, shooting a 242 (82, 80, 80).
This is Indiana's best finish of the 2000-2001 season.
The Hoosiers head to Orlando, Fla. for the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitation al on March 12th and 13th. The Hoosiers have competed in the Invite for the past seven years. They finished first in both '94-95 and '95-'96.
