Hoosiers in 15th Place After Day One of NCAA West Regional
Corvallis, Ore. - Following a 30-minute delay to the start, due to frost, the Indiana women’s golf team got off to a rough start as they are currently in 15th place after day one in the three-day 2001 NCAA West Regional on the Trysting Golf Course in Corvallis, Oregon.
Senior Inga Snyder, who was recently named to the 2001 All-Big Ten team, and freshman Karen Dennison, from Madison, Indiana, are anchoring the Hoosier lineup as they are tied for 31st with a opening round 77, five-over par. Natalie Gulbis of Arizona leads the field with a four-under 68 after day one. The Arizona Wildcats, the Pac-10 Conference champions and currently ranked No. 2 in the nation, lead the three-day event as a team as their five individuals have tallied a 287, as they currently have three golfers in the top five from an individual standpoint.
Senior Natalie Tucker is in a tie for 45th place after day one with an opening round 78 and teammates Tiffany Fisher and Danah Ford are tied for 71st with an 82.
Indiana will look to battle back towards the top in the second of three rounds of 18 holes tomorrow. Play begins at 7:30 a.m. PDT.
