Indiana Signs Two More Recruits

Bloomington, Ind.-The Indiana women's field hockey team announced the signing of two more athletes for the 2001 season. Ryan Woolsey of St. Louis, Missouri and Jaime O'Pray of Richmond, BC Canada are the newest faces to join the Hoosiers this upcoming season.
Woolsey, a forward from John Burroughs School, has been a starter for the varsity field hockey team since her sophomore season. She led her team in goals scored as a junior on the way to the first of two state championships. Woolsey netted game-winning goals in both the semifinals and finals of the state tournament. Named co-captain her senior year, Woolsey led the team in both assists and points and was the second leading goal scorer. In 2001, Woolsey was honored as Co-Player of the Year in the state of Missouri, named All-Conference for the second consecutive year, named Regional All-American, and was a member of the Metropolitan Area Senior All-Stars first team.
"Ryan will add a level of sophistication to our attack as well as pure stamina with her effort," said Indiana Head Coach Amy Robertson. "She has much experience and understands the game of field hockey. We were very fortunate to sign Ryan at such a late date and I am confident that her contributions will be multiple. Her fun personality and good character will be a perfect fit for the program."
O'Pray, also a forward, has been playing field hockey for nine years in the region of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She played in the BC Summer Games for two straight years winning the bronze and gold. O'Pray also played on the Under-18 squad in her zone for three years and participated in the BC Futures program. As a senior, O'Pray was the top goal scorer for her high school team, leading them to the Provincial Title.
"It has always been my dream to play field hockey at the university level. To be here at IU experiencing the intense level of competition that the Big Ten has to offer is really exciting. This new program has great potential and I'm proud to be a part of it," O'Pray said.
"Jaime came highly recommended by another Division I college coach who told me that I would not be disappointed. I was taking a risk because I had never seen Jaime play in person. Fortunately that coach was 100 percent correct. Jaime arrived on campus in January and has already rapidly improved. She has immediately impacted our program helping us in spring tournaments to reverse some of the losses that we had in the fall. She has excellent speed and a natural nose for the goal. Her potential is unlimited and her desire to improve will help bring her level of hockey to great heights," said Robertson.
"As a combination, Ryan and Jaime are going to help put points on the board. They both have the ability to make things happen and finish in the circle," Robertson commented.
The Hoosiers are set to begin the 2001 season with a home match against Miami (Ohio) on Sunday, August 26 at noon.
