IU Football and Basketball Doubleheader

Bloomington, Ind. - Indiana Hoosier fans can catch both the IU football and men's basketball teams in action on Saturday. Oct. 19. Not only does the football team host No. 17 Iowa at 11:10 a.m. CDT at Memorial Stadium (ESPN Plus), but the defending Big Ten co-champion and national runner-up basketball team will hold a one-hour scrimmage that is free and open to the public at Assembly Hall at 3:00 p.m.
Coach Gerry DiNardo's football team will be looking for its fourth win over Iowa in its last five tries. Senior quarterback Gibran Hamdan is fourth in the Big Ten Conference in passing yards per game (236.5), and sophomore linebacker Herana-Daze Jones is fourth in the league in tackles per game at 10.8.
Basketball coach Mike Davis welcomes the return of senior guard Tom Coverdale (All-Big Ten second-team, 11.9 ppg, 178 assists), post players Jeff Newton and George Leach (second and third in the conference in blocked shots, respectively) and guards A.J. Moye and Kyle Hornsby. The Hoosiers' 2002 recruiting class of Roderick Wilmont (G, 6-4, 185, Miramar, Fla.), Bracey Wright (G, 6-3, 185, The Colony, Texas), Marshall Strickland (G, 6-3, 185, South Carroll, Fla.) and Daryl Pegram (F, 6-9, 193, Los Angeles, Calif.) has also been ranked among the top 20 nationally.
