Bloomington, IN -Reabold regarding team togetherness....
"I thought that we pulled together as a team and we messed really well. Overall we played better. Everyone was pumped up and we saw how we can really play. It will strive to make us the best team we can be."
Reabold regarding midfield play...
"I have been trying to work off of Kayla. Me and her are the center midfielders and we have to make sure that we are spaced right and not on top of each other and therefore we can distribute the ball evenly through out the field."
Akila Jones on individual and team goals....
"My personal goal is to stay lower on defense. Being 5'11 and playing field hockey it is imperative that I stay down low and protect my feet. That is something that I have really been working on. It started in the Louisville game and it excallated Saturday. My main focus is to keep every player out of the circle. This has also been the defensive goals. This will continue to be our focus"
Jones regarding team progress...
"I think that the team has come a tremendous way from the beginning of
the season to now. And it just keeps getting better and better. There
is such a wonderful positive attitude from everyone, everyone is
willing to do their part on and off the field to make this team what
it has become, and it shows in our level of play. We are coming
together and playing as a unit and it shows. We had our best game
against Ohio State, but more are bound to come. We gained a lot
of confidence from that win, but we still need to remain focused and
not begin to stop there, there is still work to be done. This is the
beginning and we are going to keep pounding harder and harder with
every game! Go Hoosiers!!!!!"
Lesley Wiler regarding team progress...
"I think that we've begun to trust each other more and
more each day. Our team has started to come to the understanding that
you should only try to control those things that are controllable.
Trusting each other seems like something so little, but can be the
difference between a win and a loss."
Morgan Albini regarding confidence level of the team...
"After beating OSU and playing such a great game, we have a whole new
mindset of a winning team. We know that if we can out play the
defending Big Ten Champions, then we can hang with anyone. We have
always had the heart to know we could win but now we have the
confidence of actually producing and that is very satisfying."
Ginna Irwin on team confidence...
"I think our team gained some much needed confidence after beating OSU. We
have been working so hard, and have been so close to winning in several of
our games this season. But we never seemed to finish. This time we did,
and I think this was a much deserved win. It helped our overall
confidence, as well as gained some respect that we deserve from other
opponents."
Nikki Orciuch regarding team confidence...
"I know we are very excited to have won on Saturday and it does give us
the confidence to know what we can do. I believe we are there, but we need stay there and keep doing what we are
capable of and work hard at it. We are getting better and better
every time we play whether in practice or in a game. We have come
together as a team, played as a team, and won as a team."
Coach Robertson regarding team preparation for Michigan State...
"We know how good Michigan State is. They are a very good ball club. We have been making strides with our attack and have gone back to the fundamentals defensively. I have already seen improvement throughout the week. I think that that is really going to help us against them."
Coach Robertson on team confidence....
"I think that that after the OSU game, the team is not going to be intimidated by anyone. They understand that if we play as well as we can as a team, that that's success for us. The way a team is going to have to beat us, is to play well as a team as well."
Coach Robertson on the Michigan State talent...
"Michigan State spreads the field out really well. They almost even look like an international team. They have excellent stick skills and they can hit the ball with pinpoint accuracy over a long distance. They have some players that really strike the ball well and they also know each other well. They have had an extra year to know each other and that makes them more dangerous."
Coach Robertson regarding looking forward to the challenge....
"Our team looks forward to the challenge. We had the opportunity to see Michigan State play in the Big Ten/Big East Challenge in Syracuse, N.Y., and they understand that they are a better team than last year, but so are we."
Coach Robertson regarding team strategy against Michigan State...
"We are going to try and take them out of their rhythm and disrupt their normal game and take advantage of them spacing out on attack and get good counter attacks against them. And try and limit their opportunity to draw corners."
"We need to be poised on defense. Not to jump in and over commit on the ball. We need to let our second defense come up with the ball."
