A redshirt freshman from Huntington, Ind. Sean Kline has been a Hoosier forever. After taking a year to, in his words, "mature as a student and as a player," Kline is ready to get down to the business of practice with the 2002-03 Indiana team. The past year has helped him to get physically stronger, learn the system and what it is that Coach Davis wants of him both on and off the court.Defined by basketball with a self-defined fun-loving character, Sean has a do-anything attitude, willing to do everything it takes to be successful both on and off the hardwood.
Kline has his game plan set for the early-goings of the Hoosier basketball season.
" I am going to continue to learn the system and involve myself both with the team and on the court," says Kline. "Last year, being hurt, early season I missed out on a lot of things. This year I want to get myself involved and integrated into the system."
He likes to fish, the Grateful Dead are his favorite band, and he is the 2002 Midnight Madness Slam Dunk Champion.
"I really had no expectations of winning going in," says Kline. "I was just going out as an extra guy to fill in and came away winning. It was all for fun, that was the main objective going into the night."
His under-the-leg, over-the-head dunk was shown up only when Ryan Tapak's throw-in from the crowd to Kline wowed the estimated 12,000 Hoosier faithful in attendance.
The slam dunk champion counts being an Indiana All-Star in high school as his most memorable athletic accomplishment, with going to semi-state as a sophomore in high school as a close second.
His favorite player is Larry Bird, "because of the style he played. He wasn't the most athletic guy but he gave it everything he had, all the time and that made him successful," says Sean.
Sean Kline has worked hard over the past year to build himself both mentally and physically. He is prepared for the 2002-03 Hoosier hoops season, hoping that he can boost his team to another phenomenal, memorable year.
