Bloomington, IN - On Oct. 12 at 12:01 a.m., Indiana tipped off its men's and women's basketball seasons with Midnight Madness. Although it was an evening for the teams celebrate their outstanding 2001-02 campaigns, they were not the only winners. The Hoosier Hills Food Bank received contributions that included nearly $2400 and 10,100 pounds of food. The Student Athlete Advisory Committee held a raffle where 10 winners and their guests were awarded courtside seats. The committee raised nearly $1200, which was donated to Hoosier Hills to support their operational costs.
Hoosier Hills Food Bank is a multi-county organization that has provided more meals in the last twelve months than ever, and, with the economy being down, the demand for assistance is very high.
" The evening is the largest single day contributor to their stores, which is so great, but we need many more days like the one that we have during Midnight Madness," Garl stated.
Not only were fans treated to an evening of Hoosier basketball, but Hoosier Hills Food Bank came out a winner as well.
