BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University junior Karen Dennison has garnered yet another award as she has been selected the FOX-59 College Athlete of the Week.
The Indianapolis-based television station will feature the Madison, Ind., native on Thursday evening's 10 p.m. news. The sports segment typically runs around 10:20 p.m., however with the Major League Baseball playoffs being televised on the Fox network, the local news is subject to air later than previously scheduled.
FOX-59 is televised locally in the Bloomington area on Channel 11. Be sure to check your local listings for the correct channel in your area.
Dennison, currently ranked as the No. 13 player in the nation, has had quite the fall season already as the Hoosiers won the Wolverine Invitational to begin the season and tied for second last weekend at the Lady Northern Intercollegiate in Iowa City, Iowa.
Her personal accomplishments include being ranked by Golfweek/Sagarin rankings as the No.1 player in the nation last week. At the Lady Northern last weekend, Dennison fired a career-best 68, which is one stroke shy of the Indiana school record. Dennison placed second in the event individually.
For her efforts in winning the individual title at the Wolverine Invitational three weeks ago, Dennison was named Golf World magazine National Player of the Week for the week of September 23rd.
The segment on the Hoosier will also talk about Dennison's experience competing at the 2002 World University Games in Taipei, Taiwan this past summer.
Dennison has led the Hoosiers in scoring since the beginning of last season, and currently holds a 72.83 stroke average in six rounds.
