Bloomington, Ind. -
Opening Statement: I am looking forward to playing Illinois this week, and taking another stop forward to going to a Bowl. We are going to take one step at a time and this is a crucial step.
Q: Are you looking towards a Bowl game?
"I think that we have more important things to worry about. However, this Illinois game is going to be crucial for us. So, it is something that we need to get done.
Q: How do you go about making practice better and what makes a good practice player?
"Production. I didn't think that last week we had as good of a practice as we normally do and it showed in our play. We have to come out this week and produce. We need to play better.
Q: What do you take from last week's performance personally? How do you grow from that?
"I am young and I am still learning. I am a true sophomore and so I am still learning the game of college football. Statistically it was my best game, but production wise it was probably my worst. I just learn from the mistakes that I made and try not to make them again. Just concentrate more.
Q: Is that what it is, concentration?
"Yes, it is a lack of concentration on my part. The whole game I felt like I wasn't keying in as much as I usually do. Like I said, statistically I was good but production was probably my worst.
Q: Was part of the problem everybody talking about how good you guys did against Wisconsin?
"I don't think so. I think that it was the whole week of practice, we just didn't play well. I don't think that anyone intentionally took the Wisconsin game for granted. I think that we didn't produce in practice or the game.
Q: How do you evaluate practice last week, did it affect your game?
"I would say so, because I did make mistakes in practice. I'm going to drop passes, I am human. I just need to concentrate on not making the same mistakes, that's all I can do."
Q: Is the team still getting adjusted to Gibran?
"I don't think so. Gibran has stepped in and taken over. As far as the team adjusting, that is old news in my mind. He is our quarterback and he is doing a great job."
Q: Illinois has some good wide receivers, how do you stack up against them?
"They have a nice combination, so hopefully our production this week will out play theirs. We need to put up more numbers and just compete.
Q: Playing on turf, does that speed up the game, or affect your play at all?
"I think so, we played Utah on Astroturf. It is kind of the same surface, so we are looking for basically the same results."
