Indiana Regains No. 1 Ranking (10-22-02)

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana University men's soccer team has reclaimed the No.1 ranking in two of college soccer's polls this week. The Hoosiers, who are in the midst of a 11-game winning streak, are considered the best team in the nation by both the adidas/National Soccer Coaches' Association of America poll and the College Soccer News poll.
Indiana was ranked first in all four polls to start the season, but after a two ties and a loss in its first four games slipped as low as 12th. IU has made a steady climb back up to the top of the polls and regained the top spot after the three teams ranked ahead of it, St. John's, Wake Forest and Stanford, tied or lost games last week.
The Hoosiers won their seventh straight Big Ten Conference regular season crown after defeating Ohio State, 4-2, on Sunday. Indiana finished a perfect 6-0-0 in league play and extended its regular season conference win streak to 36 straight matches.
Indiana, now 12-1-2 on the season, will travel to California for a pair of games this weekend. The Hoosiers will battle Cal State Fullerton (5-6-1) on Friday, Oct. 27, and then face No. 17 UC Santa Barbara (10-1-1) on Sunday, Oct. 27. Both games are at Titan Stadium in Fullerton, Calif.
