DiNardo Views the Hoosiers and Wildcats Statistically the Same

In Tuesday's weekly press conference, Indiana head football coach Gerry DiNardo said that the Hoosiers and their Saturday opponent Northwestern are very similar when you look at the statistics.
Northwestern has tallied 175 first downs on the season while Indiana has 164. The Wildcats have more of an even distribution of first downs with 73 rushing, 93 passing, and nine by penalty. Indiana has thrown for 97 first downs, while having only rushed for 59 and gained eight by penalty.
While both squads average above 370 yards a game, the balance of each team's total is slanted either towards the run or the pass.
IU averages 396.8 yards per game but passes for 280 of them. Northwestern totals 370.7 yards per game but only throws for 217.9 yards a game. The Wildcats average over 35 more yards a game on the ground than the Hoosiers, and have an astonishing 18-5 lead in rushing touchdown totals.
