Bloomington, IN - The field hockey team travels this weekend to Northwestern to face the Wildcats and the Raiders of Colgate. The Hoosiers wrap up their Big Ten regular season play agaisnt Northwestern on Friday, Nov. 1, at 3:00 p.m., and turn around on Saturday to play Colgate at 2:30 p.m.
Lesley Wiler regarding what the team needs to do to be successful this weekend...
"I think that the main thing that our team needs to do to be successful
this weekend is to play as a unit. We need to take everything that
we've learned thus far and execute upon it. With determination and
intense play we should do awesome!"
Ginna Irwin regarding what she hopes to get out of this weekend...
"Going into our last weekend of the regular season, I hope to come out
of this weekend really being proud of how much we have accomplished as a
team. We have made incredible strides thus far, and I want to
end the regular season on a high note. I would love for our team to come
out of each game feeling that we played the best hockey of our life!! As
well as coming back from the weekend with two wins."
Morgan Albini regarding this weekend...
"This weekend we hope to play the best two games of hockey that we have
yet to play this season. We want to break our plateau and move forward
in our quality. Regardless of the outcomes we want to play to our
full potential and enjoy every moment we are afforded to play."
Akila Jones on going into the last weekend of regular season play...
"Going into this last weekend of regular season play, this is going to
be a very special weekend for me. Since this is my very last regular
season weekend of my college career, I just want us to have fun. To be
successful as a team just doing what we do best and having fun at it
while coming out on top. We know what needs to be done, we talk about
it all of the time, and now we don't need to think, and just let things
flow. My wish for the team is that we play as connected as we know
how to, and just enjoy the time that we are going have together since
this will be the last."
Kim Nash regarding the weekend....
"I am really anxious for these next two games because I want to
end the season with a big bang. I want our team to connect everything
we have been practicing these last few weeks and really strive to move
off that plateau that we sometimes get stuck on. I want our team to
never doubt ourselves and never give up."
Molly Pulkrabek on what she hopes to get out of the weekend...
"We are hoping to get a win this weekend. We have accomplished a lot and
grown a lot this season, but this it what it all comes down to. Showing
our accomplishments on the statistics."
Molly Pulkrabek regarding what it will take to be successful...
"To be successful this weekend we are going to have to just play our
hearts out. Northwestern is a beatable team and we just need to keep our
team unity on the field up and play like this is the only thing we want in
the world during those 70 minutes."
Brooke Evans regarding the weekend....
"Everyone seems really pumped up for the games this weekend. Battling
it out with Northwestern is going to make for a really great game, and
we've been thinking about this team ever since our game with them last
year and in our contest with them up at NU in the spring. It's going
to be a fun weekend heading up to Chicago where a few of the girls on
the team are from and it will be fun to get back on the road again.
This season has just been so much fun and we've had so much fun
together as a team that it would be a great end to
finish off our regular season conference matches with a WIN!!!"
Brooke Evans what it will take to be successful...
"This weekend will be pure
determination. We have the opportunity to accomplish something we
haven't done yet in our program thus far by getting out of the last
place position in the Big Ten Tournament and to get a second
conference win of the season! It is going to be a fight till the last
minutes."
Coach Robertson
"I was happy with the result this weekend, especially against St. Louis, they were a very hungry, looking for a win. They put all of their effort into that game. We kept our composure and found a way to win. I wasn't completely satisfied with the way we played last week. I thought that our progress was rather lateral, we haven't gone forward from how we played against Ohio State and Michigan. The next step is finding the right formula to get us playing forward again."
"I would like to see us step up our intensity but play together on the field. We need to have a better possession game, knowing when to value the ball and when to attack at speed. So I guess we need to have better awareness on the field and team play overall."
"I think that Northwestern tends to be more of a physical team. We are not going to try and take them on and go through them, we need to move the ball and involve as many people on our attack as possible and go around them. We need to utilize the space on the field."
