Bloomington, IN - Indiana field hockey player freshman Mallory Reabold received Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week announced Monday. Reabold led the Hoosiers in the midfield in their first Big Ten victory over Ohio State in the three-year history of the program, converting on her only shot.
Reabold scored her first collegiate goal, and the lone Hoosier goal, on the road at No. 9 Louisville. Reabold's goal gave IU a 1-0 lead up until the final 50 seconds of regulation time, when the Cardinals evened the score sending the game into double overtime. Louisville capitalized in overtime putting the game to rest, 2-1.
The Hoosiers bounced back against No. 20 Ohio State, jumping out to a 3-0 lead. Reabold scored the second goal in the game to give IU a 2-0 advantage. The Buckeyes battled back scoring two second half goals, making the final score, 3-2.
"Mallory has stepped it up every game this season," head coach Amy Robertson. "Her confidence has grown tremendously this season. Her ability to score in that position says a lot about her desire and heart to help her team."
Indiana stands at 3-8, and 1-1-0 in conference play. The Hoosiers face Big Ten opponent Michigan State on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 1:00 p.m. in East Lansing.
