Dielman and Demar Earn Honorable Mention Big Ten Accolades

Dielman, a product of Troy, Ohio moved from the tight end position where he had played the previous three seasons to the defensive side of the ball as a defensive lineman. After earning honorable mention Big Ten honors last season at the tight end spot, Dielman emerged as a major force on the defensive line. With 55 total tackles - 34 of those solo - Dielman was a continual factor on the Hoosier defense. He led all Hoosiers with 14 tackles for loss for 68 yards. He led the team in sacks with five for 46 yards and two fumble recoveries.
Dielman was a coaches selection in 2001 and this season was selected by both the conference media and coaches as an honorable mention lineman.
Fellow team captain Demar, a second team All-Big Ten honoree by both coaches and media in 2001 and an honorable mention selection in 2000, Demar finished the 2002 season at the left tackle position. An honorable mention selection by the conference media this season, Demar was instrumental in the success of the Hoosier passing game, protecting quarterbacks Gibran Hamdan and Tommy Jones as they passed for a school record 3,020 yards. The previous best was 2,755 yards in 1991.
A native of Indianapolis, Ind. and Arsenal Tech High School, Demar ended his Hoosier career having started every game of his four-year career and ranks in the top 10 nationally in consecutive starts for offensive lineman with 45. The telecommunications major has earned Academic All-Big Ten honors for the past three seasons as this year's Academic All-Big Ten accolades have not yet been awarded.
