Volleyball to Make Mall Appearance

Bloomington, IN - In conjunction with local radio stations WBWB-96.7 FM and the newly named Hoosier Cream and Crimson country station, WHCC-105.1 FM, members of the Indiana University volleyball team will hold a meet-and-greet session at College Mall in Bloomington on Tuesday, November 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. Both B97 and Hoosier Country will be on site at the main area of the mall in front of Lazarus. The public is encouraged and invited to attend.In addition to live radio interviews with coaches and team members, the event will include posters and other IU volleyball memorabilia for players to autograph, contests and other activities.
Representatives from the volleyball team include: Christina Archibald, Stephanie Blevins, Melissa Brewer, Mandy Eberle, Beth Heimann, Nikki Hill, Anna Makowski, Monique Pritz, Ashley White, and Victoria Zimmerman.
Coach Katie Weismiller's volleyball squad is well on its way to being one of the nation's most improved teams. The team has improved from an 8-20 mark in 2001 to a 16-8 overall record, 6-6 in Big Ten play, including four wins over ranked teams so far in 2002. With 8 matches still remaining to be played this year the Hoosiers are looking for just their fourth 20-win season in the last 21 years.
Indiana's most recent match was November 2, at Northwestern. The Hoosiers defeated the Wildcats 3-1 (22-30, 30-26, 30-28, 30-23). With this win, the Hoosiers move past Northwestern in the Big Ten standings, currently ranked in the sixth.
The Hoosiers are home this weekend, November 8-9, to face Big Ten opponents Michigan St. and Michigan. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
