Four Hoosiers Named To All-Great Lakes Region First Team

Bloomington, Ind. -- Four Indiana soccer players have been selected to the Great Lakes All-Region team, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America recently announced. The Hoosiers headlined the first team as seniors Pat Noonan, John Swann, Ryan Mack and sophomore Ned Grabavoy were honored.Noonan is a member of the All-Region team for the third time in his career. The Hoosier co-captain closed the season with 37 points on 14 goals and nine assists. He repeated at the Big Ten Player of the Year after leading the League in shots (79), shots per game (4.39), points (37) and points per game (2.06) in conference action. The Ballwin, Mo., native scored 127 points (48 goals, 31 assists) as a Hoosier and is one of only 14 players in school history to score 100 points. Noonan is a finalist for this season's M.A.C Hermann Trophy, the winner of which will be announced on Dec. 12.
Fellow senior and M.A.C. Hermann Trophy Finalist Ryan Mack is also making the third appearance of his career on the Great Lakes All-Region team. Mack finished as Indiana's second-leading scorer with 21 points on six goals and nine assists this season. He scored 25 goals and assisted on 33 others in his career at Indiana while started all 93 games he played in at Indiana.
Swann, a defender and team co-captain, has capped an outstanding season by earning All-Region honors for the first time in his career. The Brownsburg, Ind., native was also a unanimous first-team All-Big Ten pick in 2002. Swann was a preseason All-American and anchored an IU defense that recorded eight shutouts.
Grabavoy was named All-Region for the first time after scoring 20 points on six goals and eight assists. The midfielder was the Big Ten Conference's leading scorer in league contests with 15 points and earned unanimous first-team All-Big Ten accolades.
Indiana won its seventh consecutive Big Ten regular season title in 2002 and made its nation's best 27th appearance in the NCAA Tournament where it advanced to the third round. The Hoosiers finished with a 15-4-2 record overall and a 6-0 mark in Big Ten matches.
