Indiana University athletics' brand identity program has been well-publicized. In addition to the changes in school colors (officially cream and crimson), team uniforms and the primary logo, Assembly Hall will also sport a new look for the 2002-03 season.
The current Assembly Hall floor has been in place since 1995, and it has undergone a screen and recoat every summer since. However, the annual maintenance is much more extensive this year. In addition to the complete refinish of the floor, the state of Indiana map at center court will be adjusted, and the new interlocking IU logo will replace the traditional block I at center court. This three week process began Aug. 5 and will completed by Aug. 27.
"The television camera locations are in the East Stands, so when you saw an IU game on TV, the map looked upside down," Associate Athletic Director for Facilities Chuck Crabb said. "The combination of the brand identity program and the impact of television necessitated these changes."
