Offense Makes Mark

Bloomington, Ind. - The adage that offenses usually develop after defenses when it comes to football is one that is well known and applied during the first week of fall camp at Indiana.
However, the offense is beginning to come around. For the second time in three days, the Hoosier offense looked sharper than it has in the past.
Standing out in Friday's practice was the performance of Indiana's wide receivers. After missing the last three practices with a nagging leg injury, junior wideout Glenn Johnson returned to action and turned in a remarkable performance in practice, making catch after catch when called upon. Adding to Johnson's steady play was freshman Tyke Spencer, who made two highlight-reel caliber catches against some tough coverage.
Also contributing solid play to the offense was freshman fullback John Pannozzo. Pannozzo's tough running inside acted as a perfect complement to his ability to make some nice catches out in the flat.
Falling somewhat victim to the injury bug was a defense that found itself without the services of safety Joe Gonzalez and linebackers Herana-Daze Jones and Ron Bethel. Minor injuries kept the trio out, but each players is expected to return to action shortly.
The Hoosiers will be back on the practice field on Saturday in preparation for August 31st's season opener against William & Mary at 4 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.
