Lauren Heineck (4 goals) led a U.S. offense that saw a total of 10 players bust into the score column. Kelly Rulon contributed three goals for the U.S. in the win.
Peterson, a native of Beaverton, Ore., has now scored seven goals in five Junior Pan Am games. She led Team USA Monday with two goals in an 8-2 victory over Canada and netted a goal against Puerto Rico in a 19-2 win on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Peterson was one of 11 different U.S. players to score for Team USA, finding the back of the net twice for her fifth and sixth goals of the tournament.
She has been held scoreless in just one game, Team USA's 9-2 win over Brazil on Thursday.
Last year, Peterson played in 35 of the 37 Hoosier matches, scoring 50 goals, which was third overall on the team and ninth best in school history. She also recorded 30 assists and 39 steals in her first collegiate season. Peterson's assists total was the sixth highest output in school history.
The Junior Pan Am games are being held on the campus of Florida Atlantic University, which will play its first Division I varsity women's water polo season in the spring of 2004.
The games, which last through today, serve as a qualifier for next year's Junior World Championships.
Both the men's and women's teams will play for the championship today under the sun in Boca Raton. The men will take on Brazil in the tourney finale at 1:50 p.m., while the women will splash it up with northern neighbor Canada at 12:40 p.m.
