Hoosiers Continue Two-A-Days (08-19-02)

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana men's soccer team continued two-a-day practices Monday at Karst Park in Bloomington. The Hoosiers began preseason training on Aug. 14 and will open their exhibition season this weekend in the IFPW Soccer Showcase in Ft. Wayne, Ind.
"Coach (Yeagley) is pushing hard on our defense," senior Phil Presser said. "We're seeing how the freshmen will adjust. We are all doing well and improving and by the end of two-a-days, we should find out who's able to play on offense and defense. We've come in as a group committed to developing our effectiveness. That's where it starts, in two-a-days."
Senior All-American Ryan Mack agreed that Indiana is getting the most out of preseason camp.
"Things are going pretty good," senior Ryan Mack said. "It has been tough so far, but everyone is working together really well. I think the defense is better than we thought it might be. All of the freshmen are really equal. They are good offensively and there a few good defensive players so it's a good mix."
IU will take on Kentucky on Friday, Aug. 23, at 6:30 p.m. and then face Virginia at Noon on Sunday, Aug. 25. Both games will be played at the Hefner Soccer Fields in Ft. Wayne.
Indiana will continue double practice sessions through Aug. 29. The team opens the regular season on Aug. 30 in its own adidas/IU Credit Union Classic.
