Captains Named For 2002

Bloomington, IN - Indiana football head coach Gerry DiNardo announced today that senior offensive tackle Enoch DeMar and senior defensive tackle Kris Dielman will serve as the Hoosiers' captains for the 2002 season.
"Both Enoch and Kris have demonstrated outstanding leadership throughout the transition since the start of the spring and throughout fall camp," DiNardo said. "It's one of the biggest honors you can get as a player to be voted a captain by your peers."
DeMar, who figures to be one of the top offensive linemen in the Big Ten this year, is on the watch list for both the Outland Trophy as well as All-America accolades.
"It's an honor to be named a captain," DeMar said. "I always try to motivate people and myself, and if something needs to be said, I'll say it. If something needs to be worked out, I'll work it out. My name now is on a long list of great players now, but I won't let it change my demeanor. Being a captain isn't always about yelling and all that. I am just going to continue to go out and do what I have been doing."
As for Dielman, he was asked to make the switch from tight end to defensive tackle prior to spring camp, and has made the most of his situation.
"It's really an honor," Dielman said. "Enoch and I have both been here, me for four years and him for five, and it's an honor that our teammates would vote us as captains. It shows that we work hard and have the same goal of going to a bowl game. We're going to be the best leaders we can be and just make sure everything goes the way it should."
