Mike Davis Speaks In Indy

Indiana basketball coach Mike Davis spoke at the inaugural fundraising dinner for Creating Hope and Opportunity in Children's Education (CHOICE) August 27 in Indianapolis. This organization provides scholarships and grant money to low-income families in the Indianapolis Public School (IPS) district. These scholarships allow students to attend a non-public school of their choice. Each chosen student, grades kindergarten to 8th grade, is awarded up to $1000 in grant money.
More than 150 people crowded into the small gymnasium at Holy Angels School in Indianapolis to hear Davis speak of his divine faith in God and in God's plan
"Mike was awesome," said Robert Hoy, Executive Director of the CHOICE Charitable Trust, of Davis' speech. "He wowed us. He was very articulate, and it was a great speech."
"It was like he was in a zone. Davis spoke so highly of Indiana University, the basketball program, and of his faith in God."
Davis coached his team to a 25-12 record, and a share of the 2002 Big Ten title. The 2002 team also landed a trip to the NCAA Championship game, which hasn't occurred since 1987.
"He is a very humble and successful man because of his work ethic and his faith, "Hoy said." He is extremely grateful and blessed with everything that has been given to him."
CHOICE raised $165,000 last evening, which will be used to send 165 lucky IPS students to the non-public school of their choice.
