Bloomington, IN - Former Indiana guard Dane Fife, the 2002 Big Ten Conference Defensive Player of the Year who helped the Hoosiers to a share of their 20th league title and eighth Final Four appearance last season, was the second overall selection of the Gary (IN) Steelheads in the Sept. 17 Continental Basketball Association (CBA) Draft.The 6-4, 200-pound Fife earned the Big Ten's top defensive honor after finishing among the league's top 10 in steals with 53. He was also the Big Ten's top three-point percentage shooter (.471, 37-of-66). He is Indiana's career leader in steals (180) and ranks among the school's top 20 in career three-pointers (99) and assists (316). The Clarkston, Mich., native also set a single-school record by starting all 37 of IU's games this past season.
