Head coach Amy Robertson regarding team progress....
"The most important thing for our progress is to learn as much as we can from each game we play. There were certainly some valuable things that we can take away from our loss on Tuesday and work to improve upon for our games this weekend. "
Head coach Amy Robertson regarding the weekend....
"We need to play with a full deck this weekend. Everyone must be willing to lay it on the line and be mentally tough. We are always focusing on improving our play but we must also work to improve our aggressiveness and play with confidence in our ability to win every game."
Head coach Amy Robertson regarding playing on home turf ....
"There's no place like home! We mentally feel that we have a huge home field advantage in Mellencamp. In the past two years we have definitely played our best hockey at home. It is also really nice to sleep in your own bed and not have to worry about travel logistics."
Assistant coach Gina Lucido regarding the match up against Ball State University....
"Going into this match-up against Ball State we have one thing in mind, and that is coming out and competing with complete focus and intensity for the duration of the game. We have made incredible strides since last season, but we also have discussed the daily effort it will take in order to bring ourselves to a point of playing at our best potential consistently. Ball State is a well-coached and talented program, and we are going to have to come out fighting on Friday. I know the staff and team is not satisfied with merely starting out the season on a promising note, rather it has stirred within us a desire to push beyond our comfort zones and raise the bar of performance standards."
Assistant coach Gina Lucido regarding how to slow down the experienced BSU...
"We have really focused our team defense on playing zone vs. a man to man system. This has helped to give us overall strength and confidence in the team as an entire defensive unit, and will help with controlling play against teams with speed and quick transition. By moving defensively as a unit we keep from rushing into individual pressure on the ball and chasing a team with a lot of speed and skill. Overall, our desired result is poised defensive play, and an ability to quickly mount a counter attack from any area of the field."
