Hoosier Athletes Prepare to Reflect on Tragedies
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana University Athletics announced Monday that Indiana's official athletics website, IUHOOSIERS.com, will double as a message board this Wednesday, September 11, for the Hoosier student-athletes.While the respectful service is not mandatory, many of the Indiana women's golfers had a chance to put on paper, many of the thoughts and feelings that they have felt since the national tragedies a year ago.
While all Indiana University athletics' practices will go on as schedule on Wednesday, IU felt that offering this option to the student-athletes would be a way for them to remember the event and victims' families, yet still stay focused on the present day.
"The tragic event of September 11th last year was a real shock for all of us," said Hoosier freshman Molly Redfearn. "I just wanted to thank the heroes of the tragedy and my thoughts certainly go out to all the victims and their families."
Redfearn's comments along with other Indiana student-athletes' words will be the highlighted front-page topic Wednesday on IUHOOSIERS.com.
