IU Falls To Michigan 4-0

Ann Arbor, Mich. - The Indiana field hockey team fell 4-0 to No. 5 Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 11. The Hoosiers drop to 6-4, 0-3 in the Big Ten, as the Wolverines improve to 10-3, 3-0 in the conference.
The Wolverines out-shot the Hoosiers 21-3 and 7-2 on penalty corners in the first 35 minutes of play.
The Wolverines wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as April Fronzoni recorded the first of four Michigan goals in the half at the 3:08 mark. Just over five minutes later Anneke Huntzicker scored for the Wolverines.
Jessica Blake scored the third Michigan goal of the game with 23:58 left in the half to give Michigan a 3-0 advantage. Michigan scored its final goal as Kristi Gannon scored with 16:58 remaining.
With 20:12 remaining in the first half goalkeeper Molly Pulkrabek left the game after being issued a yellow card, stopping four Wolverine shots. Junior Katie Kanara played the remainder of the game with nine saves.
The Hoosiers held the powerful Michigan attack for the remainder of the game as it allowed no goals in the second half, making the final score 4-0. Michigan finished the game with 29 shots to Indiana's four, Michigan also finish with six more penalty corners than Indiana.
Senior Ginna Irwin and freshman Morgan Miller both made defensive saves for Indiana.
The Hoosiers are back in action Sunday, Oct. 12, at Mellencamp Pavilion against Lindenwood University. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
