Hoosiers Finish Off Purdue Invitational

West Lafayette, Ind. – The Indiana men’s tennis team continued its 2003 Boilermaker Invitational by winning three of its singles matches and two doubles matches on Sunday, Oct. 19.
In singles action against Toledo, Indiana won three of its five matches. Junior Tom Bagnato defeated Freddy Gomez 6-2, 7-6, freshman David Bubenicek defeated Todd Wojtkowski 6-2, 6-1 and sophomore Dmytro Ishtuganov defeated Cristobal Toral 6-4, 7-6, (1).
In the doubles action against Butler, Indiana defeated Butler in two of its three matches. Junior Ryan McCarthy playing with associate tennis head Matt Pledger downed Kevin Gill and James Low 8-6, Bubenicek and Bagnato downed Chris Peric and Evan West 8-5.
Indiana will next be competing in the ITA Region IV Championships in East Lansing, Mich. Qualifying begins Thursday Oct. 23 and continues on Friday Oct. 24, with the championships beginning on Saturday Oct. 26.
