Indiana Falls In Double Overtime (10-25-03)

Columbus, Ohio - The Indiana field hockey team fell to No. 18 Ohio State in double overtime on Saturday, Oct. 25. Indiana falls to 7-7, 0-5 in the Big Ten. Ohio State improves to 11-5, 3-1 in the Big Ten.
Neither team was able to score in the first half, as a shot was not recorded until 10 minutes into the game. Indiana was out shot 9-5 and obtained two penalty corners to Ohio State's five in the first period.
In the second half, Ohio State's Jenee Doto recorded the first goal of the game on an open net at 39:10, with an assist to Florencia Stier. Ohio State's Lucy Clayton received a yellow card at the 56-minute mark to put the Buckeyes down a player for seven minutes. Indiana was able to capitalize on the opportunity, as sophomore Nikki Orciuch scored an unassisted goal to tie the game at 63:00. This is Orchiuch's fourth goal of the season.
The game was forced into overtime, marking this first overtime game Indiana has played this season.
Indiana was held scoreless, despite its strong offensive attack in the first overtime. The Hoosiers out shot the Buckeyes 4-0 and obtained four penalty corners to Ohio State's one in the first overtime.
The Buckeyes came out strong in the second overtime. Clayton capitalized on the Buckeyes' second penalty corner in the period to win the game. Assists on the goal went to Saskia Muller and Curlyne Wynn.
Indiana goalkeeper Molly Pulkrabek recorded four saves, while Ohio State goalkeeper Lindsay Williams posted five saves. Indiana finished the match with 13 shots and six penalty corners.
