IU Captures Sixth Win

Bloomington, Ind. - The No. 20 Indiana field hockey defeated Kent State Sunday, Oct. 5 1-0. The win ties the record for most wins in a single season as Indiana improves to 6-3.
Last season Indiana set the six-win single season record in 18 games, while it only took this year's squad nine to tie the record.
"Overall, our goal was to have a winning season," Head coach Amy Robertson said. "We have a tougher schedule this year, so getting six wins this early is impressive."
Senior Erica Nilsson scored the Indiana goal just under 12 minutes into the second half. This is Nilsson's second goal on the season. Sophomore Lesley Wiler had her second assist of the season on the goal. This was the team's 12th assist of the season tying the record for most assists in a single season, which they set last season.
In what was a defensive battle the entire game, Kent State had six shots and Indiana was able to get off 10.
"The team found a way to win in what was a fast-paced game," Robertson said. "The girls stayed poised at the end with Kent State putting the pressure on."
The Hoosiers next travel to Ann Arbor take on Big Ten rival Michigan Saturday, Oct. 11 at 1 p.m.
